LAW LIBRARY

The York County Law Library was established by an act of the General Assembly in 1867 for the use of the Bench and Bar of York County, and was to be operated and maintained by a special law library Committee composed of the President Judge of York County and several other members of the Bar.

The Library is located on the third floor of the Court House and over the years has expanded so that it now has in excess of 30,000 volumes located in the Library proper and in each of the present judges' chambers, the latter libraries being for judges' personal use. The Library has good coverage for legal research purposes at a state level.

The Library is open to the public during the hours that the Court House is open; circulation is limited to members of the York County Bar.

The Board of County Commissioners help to support the York County Law Library with annual financial contributions.
