Professional visitors must strictly adhere to the same rules that apply to other visitors. It is extremely important that professional visitors understand that no one, without exception, is allowed to hand anything directly to an inmate. An officer, shift supervisor or a member of the administration must examine every item before the item is given to the inmate. There are no exceptions to this policy. This includes legal documents, medical documents, books, magazines, pamphlets, and photographs. Professional visitors are prohibited from having contact visits with any relatives or persons with whom they have or have had a personal relationship. The exercise of visitation is a privilege that may be revoked if any of the rules of visitation are violated. It is important to understand that security is of utmost importance and that the delivery advertently or inadvertently of any contraband item is strictly prohibited and this rule is not changed by the confidential nature of the relationship of the inmate and his/her visitor. Everyone entering the prison is subject to search, per Purdon's Title 61, Section 384. Any visitor who refuses a search when requested will be denied visitation. |
