Purpose
The program office, which was established in 1973 to fulfill the state government’s request for Single County Authority, prepares and implements an annual comprehensive alcohol treatment, intervention and prevention plan based on the community’s needs. The program provides case management services, funds, monitors and evaluates drug and alcohol agencies.
Planned strategies designed to preclude or reduce those uses of drugs and alcohol, which have a negative impact on the individual, the family and the larger society. The provision of activities and factual data aimed at: the development of decision-making skills, goal setting, values awareness and clarification, personal motivation, meaning and purpose, development of communication and interpersonal skills to increase knowledge and understanding about drugs and alcohol and their effect. The provision of services aimed at assisting the client in coping with a specific crisis or other situation in his or her life for which his or her customary modes of adaptation have been proven inadequate. This level is aimed at assisting, decision making and supporting the client until he or she can cope with the situation independently. Referral is provided if the need for a structured treatment regimen or other services is indicated.
The provision of information and referral service via telephone.
Provides social casework services to substance abusers and their families to help them reach a more adequate social, economical and emotional effort. The client, therapist, case manager and other involved participants agree upon a case management action plan.
Administrative Case Management
Provides screening, assessment, placement, authorization of services and funding, continuing stay and clinical utilization review to place client in a position to receive alcohol and drug treatment at the most appropriate level of care. The screening and assessments of clients are provided by the contracted provider agencies with the exception of Restrictive Intermediate Punishment (RIP) or Drug Treatment Court or Day Reporting Center clientele. Case Management staff provide these services.
Identifying persons who are in need of services and alerting them to the availability and location of the services.
Activities aimed at the systematic application of social, psychological or medical service methods to assist individuals to address the negative effects or consequences of drug and alcohol use or abuse.
Treatment Alternatives to Street Crimes
The provision of services to criminal justice clients with a drug and/or alcohol problem that includes intervention and drug and alcohol testing.
The provision of drug and alcohol services within or under jurisdiction of a State or County correctional facility.
A non-hospital, residential facility providing one of the following drug and alcohol services: (1) Residential Treatment Services, (2) Detoxification.
Includes short-term rehabilitation centers, or residential partial hospitalization, therapeutic communities or halfway houses. The services cover the full range of treatment and supportive services provided to the client who resides at the facility on a 24-hour basis.
A residential facility that provides detoxification services for a period not to exceed seven (7) days.
Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization
Designed for those clients who would benefit from more intensive services than are offered in outpatient treatment projects, but who do not require 24-hour inpatient care. Clients may work and remain at home while in therapy.
Available for individuals who are narcotic-dependent at time of admission and are provided in a variety of flexible, short-term options or in a maintenance format.
